Brentford High Street regen 'needs more work'

Developer Ballymore has sought more time to work on its proposals to regenerate a 10 acre site south of Brentford High Street, it has emerged.
Hounslow Council said Ballymore had taken the decision to carry out further work on the transport impact of its proposals, which was likely to delay determination of the application by around six months.
It is keen to develop the site with around 1,000 homes and 150,000 sq feet of retail and commercial space.
Councillor Steve Curran, Hounslow's regeneration lead, said it was encouraging that Ballymore was prepared to take more time to get the details of its proposals right.
“This pause – and it is only a pause – will mean the developers can make sure they are putting together the best proposals they can in an improving market,” he said.
“It also means that we can continue to discuss the phasing of affordable housing within the scheme, which will be of benefit to the local community.”
