Homes plan for Isleworth office blocks

by Jim Dunton Thu 5 December 2013, 6:00 pm

Zurich Assurance has lodged plans to redevelop three office buildings close to the River Thames in Old Isleworth with a mixed-used scheme of 139 homes and 1,891 sq metres of commercial space.

Its planning application to Hounslow Council proposes the demolition Swan Court, White Lion Court, and 5 Swan Street, and their replacement with buildings raging in height from three to five storeys.

Consultancy Barton Willmore said in a planning statement that the 1980s office buildings were under-occupied and under-used and that the situation was unlikely to improve in the short or medium term.

“A better use of the application site could be achieved through a mixed-use development proposal, which allows for the reprovision of some commercial and employment-generating uses along with residential accommodation to meet local needs,” it said.

The scheme has been designed by architects John Thompson & Partners.

Hounslow has yet to set a committee date for the application to be determined.
