New warehouses approved for Heston site

Developer Bericote Properties has won approval to construct two warehouses at the Parkway Trading Estate in Heston.

Hounslow Council’s planning committee last week approved its application for a 10,357 sq metre distribution centre, and a smaller 1,186 sq metre unit, at the 3.9 hectare site, off Cranford Lane.

According to a planning statement submitted by consultants Quod on behalf of Bericote, the development would lead to a £34 million investment in the borough and create 600 jobs.

Neither the statement nor a report to committee members named the proposed end user for the development, but as Great West Magazine reported last month, sector sources have indicated that it is supermarket group Asda.

Recommending the scheme for approval, planning officers said that the site was previously home to two large buildings subdivided for warehouse use, but which had have now been demolished.

“The proposal is considered to be an acceptable industrial scheme with acceptable design and scale, and satisfactory access, parking and landscaping arrangements,” they said.
