Accolades for sustainable housing scheme

by James Renoux-Wood Mon 17 February 2014, 11:39 am

A residential scheme in Hounslow has been awarded an array of accolades for the sustainability of its eco-homes at the site.

The Greenway development on Staines Road in Hounslow lies under the final approach for jets into Heathrow Airport and has been built on a former industrial estate.

Despite these constraints, the development became the first scheme in London to meet the standards for three sustainability measures: the mayor of London’s Housing Design Guidelines, the Code for Sustainable Homes Level Six and the highest “Lifetime Homes” standard.

In light of these achievements, the Greenway has won the following awards:

  •     Best Sustainable Project at the 2013 LABC Award
  •     Nominated one of Inside Housing’s ‘Top 50 Affordable Housing Development'
  •     Silver award at the 2013 Green Apple Awards

Catalyst Homes has developed the scheme in partnership with Willmott Dixon, MEPK Architects and the London Borough of Hounslow.
