Hounslow Council leader Steve Curran has endorsed plans for the new Golden Mile Opportunity Area around the Great West Road.

Speaking at a special event hosted by the University of West London last night (9 October), Curran focused on the need for improved transport services to support the plans.

“It’s incumbent on us to make sure we get the infrastructure right to support this growth,” he said, noting some frustration with the Piccadilly Line underground service. “We need more trains now, not in 2020 or 2025. It is not a good advert for the country and it’s not a good advert for London.

“Our vision for the untapped potential of the Golden Mile is about dramatic change. We have to show our communities that we can deliver something better for their future.”
