Hounslow Highways, the company which partners with the council to maintain the borough’s streets, has begun installing temporary bins on days when Brentford Football Club are playing, to keep the streets near the ground tidy.
Attendances have more than doubled since 2012, with increasing crowds coinciding with the club’s promotion from League One to the Championship.
Hounslow Highways is working with four pubs at each corner of the stadium to maintain the cleanliness of the streets. It said publicans at The Griffin, Royal Oak, Princess Royal and The New Inn agreed that the extra bins had made a “huge difference” to the amount of litter on match days.
