An 18-week project to improve Richmond Avenue Bridge, a key access route for Feltham, has begun.
The works includes installing steel supports, which will enable the bridge over the Longford River to accommodate 40-tonne loads. The roads and pavements will also be resurfaced.
A temporary footbridge will be constructed for pedestrian access. The road will be closed for the duration of the work.
Councillor Amrit Mann, deputy leader of Hounslow Council, said: “Improving our roads and pavements is one of our top priorities. The work that’s being done to Richmond Avenue Bridge means that it will function for many, many years to come.”
Hounslow Highways are strengthening a number of key structures within the borough. In 2014, it completed similar works to the bridges in Talbot Road and Church Road.
