Hounslow Council has unveiled a conceptual vision for Feltham, which outlines the area’s assets and details proposals for improvements.
The plans were set out in the Feltham Vision and Concept Masterplan (FVCM), developed by property professionals and local people and posted online this month as part of a public consultation process. Key stakeholders talked through the FVCM at Feltham Library on Thursday 8 October.
The masterplan ties in with Hounslow’s Local Plan, which details regeneration priorities in the borough for the next 15 years. Feltham is a key area for Hounslow, as the local authority prepares its West of the Borough Plan, which will be developed over the next two to three years.
The council commissioned urban designers Urban Initiatives Studio to work with council officers to develop the FVCM in October last year. Urban Initiatives Studio analysed how Feltham functions today, and how its better qualities can be protected for Feltham’s residents and businesses.
Councillor Steve Curran, leader of Hounslow Council, said: “The FVCM is a vision for Feltham in the coming years. We want Feltham to be a thriving town with a close-knit community who are proud of where they live.
“It’s a commitment of this administration to improve Feltham but at the same time it’s important we make sure that any new developments help to showcase Feltham’s history and cultural assets.
“This is a great opportunity to improve the lives of people living and working in Feltham without sacrificing any of its character.”
