Designs for a proposed mixed-use development in Brentford have been revealed.
The scheme, which will be based on Capital Interchange Way, a 84-ha site next to where Brentford FC’s new ground is being built, would include 350 homes, "business pods", a car showroom, a raised park and a new bus depot.
Will Alsop’s practice, aLL Design, has drawn up the designs for the project, which were revealed this morning (30 October).
The scheme will form part of the Golden Mile, which is the location for many global businesses and refers to the part of the corridor between Gillette Corner and the Chiswick roundabout on the A4.
Alsop said: “Our aim is to make a positive contribution to the Golden Mile which, broadly speaking, follows the M4 section of the motorway, and is a gateway to London for millions of people each year.
“The requirement for the bus depot was of primary importance and led the team to design a mixed-use development that includes recreational facilities and a park; thus creating both a transport and community hub.
"Furthermore we aim to establish an exemplar of environmental engineering, by reusing energy to supply the needs of people living and working locally.
"[Our] ethos is “to make life better”, and this project is an exceptional opportunity to put that into practice. We are looking forward to working closely with Hounslow Council and the local community to realise this ambition.”
The scheme is expected to be submitted for planning this winter.
