Chiswick School in Burlington Lane will expand to prepare for a predicted increase in its number of pupils.
Permission for a two-storey teaching block and a single-storey extension to the dining hall was granted by Hounslow Council’s planning committee on 18 February.
Chiswick School is part of the borough’s school expansion programme, which aims to deal with a predicted 22% increase in school-aged children by 2020: the school will expand by an additional class a year. The number of pupils is predicted to increase from around 1,080 to 1,350 and the number of full-time staff will grow from 85 to 95 by 2021.
The new block will provide the school with six additional classrooms, five design and technology rooms, a general office and a staff training room. The extension to the dining hall will provide more indoor and outdoor dining room for pupils.
