Hounslow Council has selected Countryside and Network Housing Group (NHG) to redevelop the Hounslow Town Primary School site in the town centre.
As well as a completely new primary school, the scheme will feature 240 mixed-tenure homes ranging from four-bedroom properties for families to studio apartments.
According to Countryside, 40% of the properties will be affordable, some will be available to older residents and 10% will be wheelchair accessible. Landscaped open space will also be developed.
Countryside will be the scheme's overall developer and NHG will take on the long-term management and maintenance of homes.
Richard Cherry, chief executive of partnerships at Countryside, said: “Together with the council and Network, we are committed to delivering a unique and high-quality scheme that will benefit the local community. The new school will have excellent facilities to support a modern education, with an increase in places to meet pupil demand.”
The developers will consult with the community before submitting a planning application in May 2016. If permission is granted, work is due to begin in January 2017.
Councillor Steve Curran, leader of Hounslow Council, said: “The development at the Hounslow Town Primary School site is central to our regeneration plans for the town centre.
“Providing good-quality homes and schools are top priorities for us as a council. Having a warm, safe, secure home and good school places for our children are the foundations of a quality life.”
The site is located about 500 metres away from Hounslow East tube station on the Piccadilly line.
