Former transport secretary Ruth Kelly will be joining the board of Heathrow Airport Holdings as non-executive director on 8 April.
Kelly stepped down as an MP in 2010 and currently sits on the board of the Financial Conduct Authority.
Her previous government roles have included secretary of state for transport and financial secretary to the treasury.
Kelly joins Lord Paul Deighton, who delivered the 2012 London Olympics, and Qatar Airways chief executive Akbar Al Baker among the directors who will help to offer advice on the airport's future.
Heathrow said her experience will bring “a wealth of political, transport and financial expertise to the leadership team” and “relevant insight and advice” due to her previous government roles.
