Hounslow Council has successfully made the list of top ten councils building homes in England, released as part of a new survey this month.
Inside Housing revealed Hounslow is in the country’s top ten biggest council builders for the period of 2014/5 – 2015/19. It is the second highest London council to appear on the list, which was part of a longer list of 50 biggest council builders in England.
The authority has said it is committed to building 1000 new council homes by 2022. This followed the Mayor of London’s Homes for Londoners conference in early October that encouraged developers to redouble their efforts to build homes in the capital.
Councillor Steve Curran, leader of Hounslow Council, said: “This is very good news for residents in the borough of Hounslow as they can be assured that we are honouring our pledge made last year that we will have reached 1,000 new homes by 2022.”
